My son Miles is 6 years old and has attended BOOST Conductive Education for the last four years. I first learned of BOOST through another family. At the time Miles was two years old and we were searching for any and all therapies that could help him rehabilitate from a severe brain injury that occurred when he was just over a year old. We came to BOOST not knowing much about Conductive Education but were very excited to learn! Miles’ physical challenges are significant and I was unsure if he would be able to participate in the various tasks that I saw the other children completing. Tasks were easily adapted to his individual goals and he was able to work at his own pace. The environment is very child focused and feels more like a preschool than a therapy program. Miles thrives in the highly structured, yet playful, learning environment. Most importantly the children are seen for what they are, just kids!
After returning from the summer program this summer Miles is now rolling consecutively, back to front and front to back, he is also able to support himself up on his forearms. He is working on bringing his knees up from this position to eventually be able to hold himself on all fours. From here he will be able to crawl. I can directly attribute these skills to the work he does at BOOST. Every year he is able to build upon what he has learned the previous year.
Miles now has the ability to participate in BOOST Conductive Education year-round with weekly sessions in our home as well as monthly and school break mini-intensives. He is able to not only maintain, but also strengthen and improve the skills he builds during the longer summer sessions. We are so grateful for the opportunities BOOST has provided Miles and our family.
Sincerely,
Elyse Cobb
